Can I run a Parkrun?

Yes. You absolutely can!

Running is one of the best forms of exercise; it’s sociable. It can also be your quiet time to escape the busy world, and it’s suitable for all ages and abilities. Running is something to be enjoyed anytime, anywhere.

Are you looking to set yourself some new running goals? Or perhaps you are new to running? What better way to start the weekend off than taking part in a Parkrun event.

Parkrun is, without a doubt, one of the best running events around. It is a weekly 5K timed event, and the best thing is it’s free! So whether you are a seasoned runner or just starting out, Parkrun is inclusive for everyone. Run, jog or walk; whatever your pace and goals, you will have fun. You simply need to register and head on down to your local Parkrun with your barcode. Your barcode is unique to you and is scanned at the end of each Parkrun to provide all runners with a recorded 5K finish time, a great way to track your progress.

There really is no better place to meet up with friends and to also meet new friends than the great outdoors while at the same time improving your health and fitness. With over 1000 Parkruns across the UK, plenty to choose from and lots of opportunities to explore new areas. So, where will you decide to run?

Suppose you are looking for expert advice and training plans to help you get started with running or to help you take your running to the next level. The Coopah community has it all – with strong online community support. This advanced app builds your perfect training plan tailored to your goals; you will have excellent support and encouragement throughout your running journey. You will see your confidence grow as you progress.

Parkrun is run by volunteers, and anyone who can get involved in running or walking is not for you. In addition, there is always a volunteer ‘tail walker’ walking the course, ensuring that no one comes last and that any walkers have a friendly volunteer to walk with. Without these amazing volunteers, these events would not happen. So, if you are thinking about trying out Parkrun but want to test the waters and see what it’s all about first, why not give volunteering a go? It really is a great experience.

All milestones are celebrated at Parkrun. A great goal to aim for is running or volunteering for a ‘milestone’ number of official Parkruns. Once these milestones have been reached, you can purchase a special milestone t-shirt. It states the milestone number you have reached to celebrate your achievement, starting at 25 for adults and then onto 50, 100, 250 and 500! Wear your t-shirt with pride and celebrate all those miles you have run or how many times you have volunteered! How long will it take you to reach your first ‘milestone’ t-shirt?

Have we convinced you to register for Parkrun? Go on, give it a go. You’ll never look back!

Happy running 😊
